ONDER is a work by Dutch sculptor Carel Visser (1928-2015) who is considered one of the most important Constructivist and Post-War sculptors of the Netherlands. In the period of this work (from 1960s), Visser was focused on working with iron and considering nature, specifically concentrating on the idea repetition and variation.
1968 marked a significant moment in Visser's career as it was the year in which he was awarded a David E Bright Sculpture Prize at the Venice Biennale and one of the last times he would work with solid blocks of iron.
