Designed by Axel Einar Hjorth for Nordiska Kompaniet in 1932 and executed the following year, this table forms part of Hjorth’s Skoga series, produced by Nordiska Kompaniet’s own workshops.

The Skoga series was intended for Swedish country houses and summer residences, drawing on vernacular and rustic references while remaining rooted in modern design principles. The table is characterised by its robust proportions, straightforward construction, and emphasis on the natural qualities of the wood. Decorative elements are kept to a minimum, allowing structure and material to define the piece.

This approach reflects Hjorth’s broader work during the early 1930s, when he explored a more grounded, functional language within Scandinavian modernism, balancing craftsmanship with practicality.
