“I understand the painting like a landscape. In the sense that it’s made of different layers, through mixing different techniques.”
—Aythamy Armas
This September, GALLERY B·R is proud to present the first UK solo exhibition of Spanish artist Aythamy Armas. Born in the Canary Islands and based in Barcelona, Armas is known for his conceptual approach to painting and installation, often exploring themes of identity, displacement, and the passage of time.
His work focuses on the intrinsic possibilities of painting—treating it not as a means of representation but as a space for experience. Through gestural marks and subtle material shifts, Armas constructs compositions that invite reflection and immersive engagement.
The exhibition will feature a series of large-scale, monochromatic works that blur the line between painting and drawing. Using techniques such as aerosol and charcoal on canvas, Armas creates rhythmic, meditative surfaces that evoke both chaos and calm.
Deeply intuitive and process-led, his practice embraces the physicality of materials and the resonance of mark-making. This exhibition offers UK audiences a rare opportunity to experience Armas’s unique visual language and its quiet, transformative power.
