This pair of Elizabeth chairs was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen and produced by Christensen & Larsen, and exemplifies his refined approach to Danish modern seating.
Characterised by their elegant, sculptural frames and gently reclining profiles, the chairs offer comfort through proportion and thoughtful construction rather than excess. The slender wooden structure supports a softly upholstered seat and back, creating a sense of lightness without sacrificing support.
The model became known as the Elizabeth chair after Queen Elizabeth II was presented with a pair during an official visit to Denmark in the 1950s. The name feels fitting rather than promotional given the design is assured and quietly dignified. This pair retains its original upholstery, preserving the integrity and character of Kofod-Larsen’s original vision.
